The Australian Baseball Federation has announced the launching of “Baseball Australia” as the new unified brand to represent the sport in Australia.

Trends of international baseball and softball continue to accelerate and expand beyond the traditional framework of club/league competition, and factors such as increasing broadcast exposure, media coverage and fan/athlete interest in international competitions are driving governing bodies to build National Team programs into sustainable products, in order to become more competitive, recognizable and positioned commercially.

Baseball Australia’s announcement comes only a few weeks after “Samurai Japan” – currently third in baseball’s world rankings – held a press conference in Tokyo to introduce Japan’s new design concept and features of the Samurai apparel line that will be worn across all eight of their national team categories.

Australia’s official launch rolls out with a new logo that will be the “face of Baseball Australia” and it will be shared/cross-promoted across BA’s seven State Associations and their newly implemented websites, in order to help drive brand recognition and rein in a “new era” of baseball in the country, forming a long-term strategic-plan that will continually grow and develop the national team program, which is top in Oceania and 13th in the world.

The sweeping national branding strategy implemented Down Under will continue to promote the pro-based Australian Baseball Leagueand its six state-aligned teams as the commercial brand of the sport.

Baseball Australia Chief Executive, Brett Pickett, said in statement:  “This launch is another large step forward in the ongoing evolution of our sport.”
