Athlete-centered Super League Softball launched in France

The Super League Softball will be played over three weekends, with six games every week.

A new, athlete centered women’s softball league opened its season in France this past weekend, with the first six games of Super League Softball. The tournament, focused on player’s individual on field performances, will be held over three weekends in Evry-Courcouronnes.

Inspired by the Athletes Unlimited format, players will earn points and be ranked according to their individual performances. The winner of Super League Softball will be the athlete with the biggest number of points after the 18 games scheduled.

The first six games were played during the weekend. You can see the result here.

After the first weekend, three athletes of Team Liminier lead the standings of the tournament

  1. Pauline Prade (475 pts)
  2. Prapeng de Ridder (416 pts)
  3. Ambre Brouard (384 pts)

These three players will be the team captains for the next weekend, and will pick their teammates in the next draft.

According to the French Baseball Softball Federation (FFBS), the competition will contribute to the development of women's softball in France, with the objective of completing the Division 1 season, offering competitive games and giving more visibility to women's sport.
