Balkan Triple Ball opens in Bulgaria

It’s the second edition of a unique event, sanctioned by WBSC, that brings together National Teams of the Balkan Region to compete in baseball, fastpitch softball and coed slowpitch softball. The hosts celebrate 30 years of their Baseball Federation. WBSC President Fraccari to lecture the National Sports Academy

SOFIA (Bulgaria)-The second edition of the Triple Ball 2018 opened in Sofia (Bulgaria) on Thursday, 26 April.
This unique event, sanctioned by WBSC, brings together National Teams of the Balkan Region to compete in baseball, fastpitch softball and coed slowpitch softball.

The baseball tournament will see the defending champions Bulgaria play Greece, Serbia and Romania at the Oktomvri (October, in English) baseball field until Saturday, 28 April.

The women’s fastpitch softball tournament will see the defending champions Greece play Bulgaria, Bulgaria U-19 and Serbia at the 73rd Elementary School of Sofia softball field untile Saturday, 28 April.

Bulgaria is the defending champion in the co-ed slowpitch softball tournament, that will start at the Oktomvri baseball field once the baseball tournament is over.

The Balkan Triple Ball is the main event included in the celebrations of the 30 years of the Bulgarian Baseball Federation. WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari will attende the ceremony together with Didier Seminet (President of the Confederation of European Baseball, CEB) and Gabriel Waage (President of the European Softball Federation, ESF).

On Friday, 27 April, the National Sports Academy in Sofia will confer to WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari the title of Honorary Professor.
Fraccari’s lectio magistralis (lecture) will be about the merger of the International Federations of Baseball (IBAF) and Softball (ISF) that led to the WBSC and the new business oriented strategy of WBSC.
