Bar-Arie Shrim’s bat lifts Israel past Team WBSC

The outfielder went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored that helped them clinch their first win of the tournament.

Israel claimed today their first win of the tournament against Team WBSC in a 6-5 roller coaster game at WBSC U-23 Men's Softball World Cup. Bar-Arie Shrim had a perfect day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Alon Gil singled to lead off the game and later scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch. Israel added one in the third, when Ben Duarte Kantor took advantage of a defensive error to cross the plate. 

Team WBSC tied the game in the bottom half of the inning on a double by Nery Del Cid and an error. But the European team regained the lead 3-2 with an inside-the-park homer by Shrim.

Team WBSC scored three in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. Nery Del Cid singled in Juan Medina, while Enrique Xuya brought in two with a single to centre field to give his team the lead.

Israel took the lead again in the sixth, as Shrim hit an RBI single and later a defensive error allowed Shrim and Avinoam Sachs to cross the plate.

Kfir Leon pitched seven innings with eight hits and three runs, with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Israel moved to 1-3 in the tournament while Team WBSC have lost all four games so far.
