Baseball5 highlights World Environmental Education Day in Santiago, Chile

Four teams of migrant boys and girls competed in a Baseball5 tournament, which was part of initiatives connected to the International Environmental Education Day.

Mariners B defeated Mariners A to win the Malta Caracas Cup, a Baseball5 tournament between four teams of migrant boys and girls in Santiago, the capital city of Chile. The Spartans beat the Athletics to claim third place.

Migrant boys and girls met at the Parque de Los Reyes in Santiago for an initiative included in the International Environmental Education Day celebration. The day's programme also featured a conference on environmental education and migration.

The main goal of International Environmental Education Day is to identify global and local environmental issues and raise awareness about the need for participation to conserve and protect the environment, mitigating the various levels of impact caused by climate change.

International Environmental Education Day has been celebrated every 26 January since 1975.
