Baseball/softball pictures shine at 'Run for Art' international photographer contest

The 40 finalists are on display at the International Mugham Center in Baku. The Giulio Onesti Foundation promoted the event.

Tetsu Chih-Ching Lee (Taiwan), who pictured the importance of softball in her region, is amongst the winners of the fifth edition of the Run for Art international contest for young photographers under 35, an event organised by the Giulio Onesti Foundation

The finalists' works will be on display at the International Mugham Centre in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 6 to 16 April, the inauguration date marking the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. On display will be images of the five new Tokyo 2020 Olympic sports (baseball/softball, karate, skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing) seen through the lens of young photographers under 35 with over 100 photographers from 37 countries having participated.

The 40 photographs portray The five new Olympic sports. The contemporary challenge to ability and disability. They focus on the evolving concept of sport for the young generations and the introduction of baseball/softball, karate, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The exhibition, curated by the first Italian to win an Olympic medal in swimming Novella Calligaris, who is also a member of the Foundation's executive board, is organized in partnership with the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on its 30th anniversary.

The winners were picked by a jury chaired by Ivo Ferriani, an IOC member and the President of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation( IBSF).

A digital version of the exhibition is available at runforart.com.
