Canada present roster aiming for second WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup title

World No. 4 Canada qualified for the World Cup with a bronze-medal finish at the WBSC Americas Pan American Championship in Sincelejo, Colombia earlier this month.

Softball Canada announced the list of athletes who have been named to the Canadian National Team that will compete in the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup from November 11-19 in Hermosillo, Mexico.

World No. 4 Canada qualified for the World Cup with a bronze-medal finish at the WBSC Americas Pan American Championship in Sincelejo, Colombia earlier this month. They beat No. 1 Argentina, 1-0 in extra innings, in the bronze medal game. No. 5 USA and No. 8 Venezuela earned the gold and silver medals in the competition.

The athletes who will represent Canada at the WBSC U18 Men’s Softball World Cup are:

The WBSC U18 Men’s Softball World Cup will feature a total of 12 teams: Argentina, world no. 2 Australia, No. 24 Colombia, No. 6 Czechia, No. 17 Israel, No. 3 Japan, No. 10 Mexico, No. 7 New Zealand, No. 12 Singapore, USA and Venezuela. 

The teams will be separated into two groups for the Preliminary Round, with the top three from each group advancing to the Super Round. The medal games are scheduled on 19 November.

Canada has claimed eight medals in the history of this tournament (including the Junior U-19 World Championship - prior to 2020), including a world title in 1993 in Auckland, New Zealand, two silver medals (1989 and 2008) and five bronze medals (1985, 1997, 2001, 2005 and 2016).
