Hudson helps Canada top Israel 7-0 in five innings

Hudson pitched the five innings for Canada, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out six. This is his first win in four appearances.

Canada closed their Opening Round play with a five-inning 7-0 win against Israel in the WBSC U-23 Men's Softball World Cup. Jordan Hudson tossed five scoreless innings to lead the team. 

Canada started the game with a three-hit, four-run rally in the bottom of the first inning. James Shirley and Mason McKay hit an RBI triple each. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Canadian shortstop Brant Wiebe doubled in McKay to extend the lead to 5-0. One inning later, Canada scored twice and ended the game. Dallas Kipfer hit a walk-off single up the middle to score Thomas Baker.

Canada posted a 3-2 record and must wait for the result of the last Group B game between New Zealand and Japan to know if they will play the Super Round. Israel closed the Opening Round with a 1-4 record and will play the Placement Round.
