Canadian Men’s, Women’s National Baseball Teams set for 2015 Pan Am Games

TORONTO — The Canadian Olympic Committee and Baseball Canada announced the Men’s National Baseball Team roster of athletes who will represent Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games. (SeeRoster)

Currently ranked No. 7 in the world, Canada won the gold medal in men’s baseball at the 2011 Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, defeating the United States 2-1 in the finale.

Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and the United States will all be competing in men’s baseball at the 2015 Pan Am Games.

The 2015 Toronto Pan American Games will be the first-ever multi-sport “mega-event” to stage women’s baseball. The Women’s National Baseball Teams of Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico, United States and Venezuela will attempting to capture the historic gold medal.

Last May, the Canadian Olympic Committee and Baseball Canada announced the Women’s National Baseball Team. (See Roster)

Canada’s Women’s National Team is currently ranked No. 4 in the world, after having finished fourth at the 2014 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in Miyazaki, Japan.

In total, four baseball/softball events will be featured at the 2015 Pan American Games: men’s baseball and men’s softball, and women’s baseball and women’s softball.

Baseball and softball at the Pan Am Games is overseen by the sports’ world governing body, WBSC, in conjunction with WBSC’s continental arms within the Americas. Results of the Pan Am Games will have an impact on the Official WBSC Baseball World Rankings.
