Singapore made the announcement through an Instagram post: “Over the past three months, the U18 softball boys have been training hard in preparation for the WBSC U18 Softball World Cup held in Hermosillo, Mexico from November 11-19, 2023.  They have worked tirelessly to improve their skills, both individually and as a team, knowing that the World Cup will be a challenging tournament.”

Singapore have been in 12th position (their highest ever) in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Rankings since April 2023, and their participation in the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup will allow them to keep climbing in the World Rankings, securing at least 11th place over Denmark. If they finish the World Cup in the first seven places, they will move into the top-10 for the first time in history, overtaking Cuba.

Singapore will open the tournament in Group A, facing No. 2 Australia, No. 4 Canada, No. 6 Czechia, No. 10 Mexico, and no. 24 Colombia. You can see Singapore’s schedule here.

This will be Singapore’s fourth participation in a U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup. They played previously in Paraná 2012 (12th place), Whitehorse 2012 (10th) and Palmerston North 2020 (9th).

In the latest edition of this event in New Zealand, Singapore stunned No. 1 Argentina on the opening day of the tournament, with an 8-3 win.
