Central Zone wins inaugural U-23 Development Baseball League in Puerto Rico

Prospects of the Superior Double-A League franchises split into teams representing the eight zones. "This league has much potential," commented winning manager Ángel Ramón Santos.

The Central Zone swept the East Zone in the best-of-three final series of the inaugural Puerto Rican U-23 Development League. Central won 9-2 and 8-7.

"We loved it," commented Ángel Ramón Santos, the winning manager. "We had highs and lows, as normal in a first season. The league showcased a lot of talent."

Central dominated the first game. Emmanuel Ramos batted in five runs, and Gabriel Trinidad earned the win.

Rayson Rivera earned the win in a closer Game Two. Anthony Rivera batted in three runs. Adrian Santana took the mound with runners at the corners and one out but took the game to the end, earning the save and MVP honours.

Prospects of the eight zones of the Superior Double-A league competed in the inaugural Development League.

"This league has great potential," added Santos, "it offers a chance for younger players to showcase their talent and seek opportunities."
