Chinese Taipei beats South Africa, books ticket into Super Round

The defending World Champions didn't waste time, scoring two runs before South Africa could record the first out.

Chinese Taipei beat South Africa, 12-0, in five innings and qualified for the Super Round of the VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.

The defending World Champions didn't waste time, as South Africa's starting pitcher Sithembisio Chuma had yet to record an out when Chinese Taipei already led 2-0.

South Africa reached base once on a walk by starter Shao Chieh Ko. Yun Zhou Qiu followed, pitching two perfect innings.

Chinese Taipei combined for 12 hits. Left fielder Yu Hsiang Yeh went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

Chinese Taipei (3-1) will face next Italy (1-3) to close Group A's Opening Round. The hosts will participate in the Super Round, but the final group standings will determine the seedings with Venezuela (4-0) and Mexico (3-1) also meeting Tuesday.
