Chinese Taipei outscores South Africa, head to Super Round as first in Group A

An 11-run third inning was the game. The hosts have four wins from four games to their name and play defending champions Venezuela on Tuesday.

Chinese Taipei earned their fourth consecutive win as they outscored South Africa in five innings, 14-1 at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium on Monday.

After two scoreless innings, Chinese Taipei got to Luke November in the top of the third inning, scoring 11 runs.

The hosts had a six-hit at-bat, highlighted by a three RBI double by Sheng Hao Chang. They received also some help from a couple of errors, a balk, a pair of walk and two wild pitches.

Yu Teng Yao earned the win going three innings and allowing a run on two hits.

The win confirmed a spot in the Super Round for Chinese Taipei, ranked No.2 in the world, who have four wins from four games while world No. 26 South Africa, who are still looking for a first win of the tournament, are now out of Super Round contention.

South Africa play world No. 1 Japan at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium on Tuesday while Chinese Taipei take on Venezuela, with the defending champions needing to win to stay in the hunt for the Super Round.
