Colombian National Softball League opens second season

Teams from Bogota, Cali, Monteria, Soplaviento and Sincelejo will compete in the second edition of the Liga Elite de Softbol Femenino (Women’s Softball Elite League).

The second edition of the Colombian Liga Elite de Softbol Femenino (LESF - Women’s Softball Elite League) opened this past weekend with teams representing five different cities. The regular season will run from 29 July to 15 October.

"The second elite tournament is the launching pad for the new national softball stars,” said Eduin Diaz, Softball Colombia president. “The international competition will be very valuable for the players, many of whom will represent the country in the Olympic cycle events."

An expanded number of five teams will participate in the event: Capitalinas de Bogotá, Azucareras del Valle, Mariscales OR de Sucre, Vaqueras de Montería and Juventud Alcaldía Soplaviento. The team from Soplaviento will make their debut in the competition.

After the first week of play, Juventud Soplaviento is the only team undefeated with three wins over Azucareras. Vaqueras from Monteria will make their debut this weekend.
