Constantin Bieth shines as his double lifts Germany over New Zealand

Germany starter Henk Lenhart strikes out seven, securing the comeback win, as the German batters continue to score.

Constantin Bieth hit a two-run double that secured Germany’s 11-2 comeback win over New Zealand on Friday in the Placement Round of the VII WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.

New Zealand took an early lead, scoring two runs with two doubles in the first, and stuck to it for two innings.

In the bottom of the third, Jon Dusing’s single to right field first drove in Lauritz Landgraf, earning Germany’s first game run. Later, Bieth hit a two-run double, putting Germany ahead and never looking back. Bieth added another run, ending the inning 4-2.

Afterwards, Germany grabbed the chance to extend the lead, presenting the whole lineup, performing a rally and earning six runs. After four innings, Germany led 10-2.

Before the game closed, Germany added one more run, fixing the final score to 11-2.

Germany starter Henk Lenhart pitched five innings, striking out seven, allowing three hits and one walk.

Germany (3-1) now share the Placement Round’s second place with Panama. They will play for eighth place on Saturday. New Zealand (0-4) will conclude the tournament against Mexico.
