Cuba announce pre selection for WBSC Americas Youth Baseball5 World Cup Qualifier

The list of 16 will start training under manager Sadián Fernández. The final roster will include eight players.

Cuba announced a pre-selection of 16 players, eight boys and eight girls, for the WBSC Americas Youth Baseball5 World Cup qualifying tournament, scheduled for July in Venezuela.

Boys: Alexander Ortiz Vaillant, Yeison Ramírez Urgellés, Lisnel Bryan Blanco Moreno, Sergio Alejandro Matamoros Valle, Jadier René Ulloa Massip, Carlos Yotuel Estrada Zamora, Josué Gutiérrez Calunga and Yoel David Blanco Frómeta.
Girls: Haila González Collazo, Keila Laza Galida, Amanda Yunieska Díaz Panadés, Amanda Díaz Jimeno, Claudia caridad Gómez Gómez, Misdaylis Oliva Betancourt, Adis Yudith Espinel Felizola, Osleidi Guerra Martínez.

Sadián Fernández, who led Artemisa to the Youth National Title, will manage the Youth Baseball5 National Team. Sergio Arturo Pérez will assist him during the training camp. Yoanqui Betancourt Fernández will participate in the preparation as an invitee coach.

The Chief of Baseball5 in Cuba, Eros Bernal, Pablo Terry, who managed Cuba to the first Baseball5 World title in November 2022, and his assistant coach Llorvis Savon will oversee the camp.

The average age of the players is 17. According to Bernal, despite the young age, the group has a fair amount of experience in adult competition.

The final roster will include eight players.
