The US scored three in the first and broke the score open in the second, en route to a 43-1 win.
Defending world champions and World No. 2 USA opened the VII WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup with a shutout win against New Zealand, 43-1.
Early
in the first, the USA took the lead with Bryant Ju’s 2 RBI single to center
field, sending Tyler Early and Leyland Henry Jr. back home, and Ju later scored
as well, 3-0.
The momentum of the US started with Tyler Early’s solo homerun with the whole USA line up going at bat. Before the end of this inning, Henry Jr. also hit a homer, ending the second inning 14-0.
The USA extended the lead to 34-0 in the third with Bryant Ju on fire. Ju started the inning with a solo home run and added a grand slam to deep left field.
The US scored nine more runs. In the bottom of the fourth, New Zealand scored their first run in the game with Tavita Arthur’s double to left field and thanks to USA’s defensive error.
The US will start Day 3 against Panama, while New Zealand will face the Czech Republic in the afternoon game.
