Deurne Spartans win Belgium Baseball Championship

They defeated the two-time defending champions Hoboken Pioneers in four games in the best-of-five final series, claiming their third title in six years. Cedric Desmedt (pictured above) earned two of the three wins.

The Deurne Spartans defeated the two-time defending champions Hoboken Pioneers in four games to win the Belgian Baseball Championship. It's the third pennant in six years for the Spartans.

Cedric Desmedt proved the hero for the Spartans. He pitched two complete games and earned two wins. In game two, he used 186 pitches. He needed 163 pitches to win the title-clinching game four. He allowed six hits and four walks.

Centre fielder Daniel Bustamante, catcher Johiner Arguinzones and designated hitter Brian Valdez batted in the three runs the Spartans needed to win game four against Brayden Bebee.
