Eight teams to participate in first-ever Baseball5 Japan National Team Finals

The winner will represent Japan in the first-ever Baseball5 Asia Cup, a qualifier to the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup.

Baseball5 Japan has announced that eight teams will participate in the first-ever Baseball5 Japan National Team Finals on 16 and 17 July. The winners will represent Japan in the first Baseball5 Asia Cup from 17 to 19 August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The eight teams will split into two groups and compete in a single round-robin format. The winners of each group will play the final series on Sunday, 17 July.

The choice of the eight teams came through a digital challenge. Baseball5 Japan invited teams to post their videos. Only players born after 1 January 2008 have been considered.

The Baseball5 Asia Cup will qualify three teams for the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, scheduled from 7 to 13 November in Mexico City.

Twelve National Teams will participate in the event:

Americas (3): TBD
Asia (3): TBD
Europe (2) France, Lithuania
Oceania (1) Australia

The dates of the Americas Qualifier are to be determined.
