Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) teams have been given the green light to allow spectators into the stadiums starting this week, as the race toward the playoffs heats up. The Korean government decided to lower the level of social distancing nationwide. The relaxation allows clubs to fill the ballparks up to 30% of the capacity, as long as they comply with anti-COVID-19 guidelines.
The decision came after daily infections fell into the double-digit range in the past two weeks.
KBO clubs from late July to mid-August were given temporary approval to welcome fans to the stadium, with a limit at 25% maximum capacity, before the government reversed its decision and ordered stadiums to be once again closed to the public.
Korea's Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun told the local press that the government will maintain control on risk activities such as door-to-door sales.
