First Ever National Women’s Baseball Camp in Australia

Held at the same time as the Major League Baseball Australian Academy Program (MLBAAP), at the Palm Meadows Baseball Complex, the Women’s Camp will bring together members from the 2013 Australian Women’s Squad, announced last month, to train under some of the most experienced baseball personnel in Australia.

The camp will focus around bolstering the squad in four areas:

Technical                individual skills
Physical                       quality, speed and sustainability of movement
Tactical                        understanding and executing defensive and offensive strategy
Psychological              self-management for improved preparation and performance

Australian Women’s Team Manager, Simone Wearne, views this National Women’s Camp as one of the most exciting inclusions for the women’s program.

“The opportunity the girls will get to work with the best coaches in the country is something that money can’t buy, and I know that our players will now have the best chance to improve and become better ballplayers.

I am confident that our attendance at the Academy this year will not only strengthen our program, and the strength of each player individually – it will also showcase the best players and encourage future camps with the support of Baseball Australia.  The girls are really lucky to have this opportunity, and I know each and every player will make the most of it”.
