World No. 26 France announced today its 2019 Women’s Softball National Team roster for this year’s European Championship, aiming to finish in the top six of the tournament and advance to the WBSC Europe/Africa Softball Qualifying Event for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, which will be staged from 23-27 July in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Céline Lassaigne, Head Coach of the French Softball National Team, unveiled the list of athletes selected for the 2019 European Women’s Softball Championships, slated to be played in Ostrava, Frydek Mistek, (Czech Republic); and Rybnik, Zory, Poland, from 30 June to 6 July.

To see the complete roster, visit Fédération Française de Baseball et Softball website.

France has been drawn in Group A of the European Championship, alongside Czech Republic, Sweden, Belgium, Slovakia and Lithuania. In 2017, France finished 10th in the continental event.

To tune up for the European Championship, France will face the USA U-19 National Team and a U-20 team from Japan at the Achille Challenge. The event was set up under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the three nations back in January.

The 2nd edition of the France International Fastpitch Softball Tournament – Achille Challenge will take place in Evry, Paris Area from 21-23 June 2019. The event will be the perfect occasion for the Pharaons d’Evry, club located in Grand Paris Sud, to inaugurate its new fully illuminated, synthetic softball field.

Last weekend France split a four-game series against Peru, at CREPS Sud-Est de Boulouris.
