German batters spark comeback win against Czechia

Czechia and Germany traded leads until the latter rallied in the fourth and carried the momentum to win the game.

Germany completed a 6-3 win against Czechia on Thursday in the Placement Round, recording their second success in the VII WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.

Czechia took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Germany came back to tie it at one.

In the top of the second, Robin Mika’s single to right center sent Daniel Horak home, helping Czechia retake the lead, 2-1.

Czechia added another run to make it 3-1 at the top of the fourth and was ready for more with the bases loaded, but German reliever Felix Blesing got out of the jam.

Towards the bottom of the fourth, Germany started a rally. The entire lineup went at-bat, and tied the game with runs by Tizian Sulilatu and Mason Cameron.

After Germany took a 6-3 lead, Czechia's bats went silent.

Germany improved their record to 2-1 in the Placement Round and will face New Zealand on Friday, 4 August at 18.30 local time, while Czechia (1-2) will meet Mexico at 14.30.
