Gonzalez and Paula shine as Dominican Republic surge to 19-0 blowout

They both got two hits and three RBIs, setting the course for a four-inning win.

Both with two hits and three RBIs, Raiyer Gonzalez and Keimel Paula helped Dominican Republic to record their first win in Group B after a 19-0 win over the Czech Republic in the VII WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup on Saturday.

In the bottom of the first, Dominican Republican surged with six hits and five walks, including Gonzalez’s 2-RBI single in the middle. The Dominican Republic got started with a 9-0 lead.

The Dominicans scored five more runs in the second to extend the lead to 14-0.

The bottom of the third ended with Paula’s triple to right center, scoring two runs and bringing the frame's total to five.

After the 19-0 shutout win, Dominican Republic’s next game will be against South Korea on Sunday at 18.30 local time, while the Czech Republic will face New Zealand at 14.30, both seeking the first win.
