Evan shared the following on joining the Guyana Baseball League team.

“It’s my pleasure to accept the position as Vice President of Marketing with the Guyana Baseball League. As a young child I loved chasing pop flies in the backyard and soon became known as the left-handed pitching, righty hitting baseball player. Having grown up in Baltimore, MD I quickly was drawn to the game and idolized Baltimore Orioles shortstop, Cal Ripken Jr. My love for baseball continued throughout high school as I was a two-year Varsity pitcher and played one season of community college baseball in Seattle before giving up my dreams for the Majors.

I parlayed my passion on the baseball diamond to the classroom where I graduated from the University of Washington with my Bachelors in International Affairs. After taking an internship with Disney in Orlando I returned to Seattle to work on progressive political campaigns, organize constituent groups and put my passion for grassroots change in motion.

My professional interests drew me to our nation’s capital where I have spent the last 8 years carving out a career in mainly sales, recruiting, human resources and business development. I have been fortunate to gain a diversity of experience from working in various industries from the financial markets to defense contracting. Encouraged by my peers and seeking a new challenge that would further my career, I pursued my MBA at George Mason University where I recently graduated and focused my studies on marketing, sports communication and project management.

When the opportunity to work with Robin came knocking on my door it was an easy decision to get involved with an organization that has such ambitious goals and the potential to bring about community empowerment and teach others about a game that has been such a positive force in my life. Community is an important part of my life; I have coached at the little league baseball level and volunteered as a big brother for several years as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.

The potential for the Guyana Baseball League is tremendous and I cannot iterate how excited I am to be on board and make this a sustainable sport in Guyana. I am looking forward to promoting and helping grow this sport throughout Guyana.”
