The Italian Baseball Softball Federation announced its Women’s Softball National Team for the first stage of the USSSA European Pro Series presented by WBSC, scheduled for 24-25 April in in Caronno, northwest of Milan.
World No. 9 Italy will be back to the diamonds next week, playing host to the USSSA Pride, one of the most successful teams of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), the U.S. pro softball league. After a six-place performance in the Asia Pacific Cup, Italy will take advantage of this series to continue preparing for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship, to be held from 2-12 August in Chiba, Japan, where the first berth to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be awarded.
After the games in Italy, the USSSA Pride will play exhibition games against the National Teams of Czech Republic and Netherlands. The tour will end (Friday, 4 May) in France, where the USSSA Pride will hold a clinic at the Softball Academy of France in Boulouris, Côte d’Azur. The goal of the USSSA European Pro Series presented by WBSC is to promote women’s softball internationally.
