Jack Besgrove was invincible pitching a no-hitter and leading Australia to a 2-0 win against Czechia in their last game in the Opening Round of the WBSC U-23 Men's Softball World Cup. The senior world champion struck out 14, and gave up only one walk.
Australia scored all their runs in the fourth inning, where a defensive error and an RBI single by Thomas Cass gave a 2-0 lead that remained unchanged until the end of the game.
Jackub Osicka also pitched a great game for Czechia. The U-18 World Cup bronze medallist tallied 11 strikeouts with two walks, five hits and two unearned runs, but was outduelled by Besgrove.
The victory moved the Oceania side to the Super Round undefeated, starting the next round with a 2-0 record. Czechia dropped their record to 2-3.
