Japan recovers from early deficit, tops USA 12-6 to remain undefeated in U-15 World Cup

The game got off to an electric start with both teams scoring five times in the first inning.

Japan recovered from an early deficit Wednesday at Sonora Stadium and clinched their second win of the Super Round at the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup. The Japanese team topped USA, 12-6, and stay undefeated in the tournament.

The beginning of the game was electric with both teams scoring five times in the first inning. However, Japanese starter Kosuke Hotta settled down and didn’t allow more runs over the next two innings.

Japan had another big inning in the third, with their second five-run inning of the game.

Ryuga Sato struck out six in three innings and was the winner of the game. For USA, flame-thrower Chase Bentley took the loss.

Japan improves their Super Round record to 2-0 and sits atop the standings, while USA is now 1-1.
