Kenya Baseball Federation President Mutwiri visits WBSC headquarters

Elected in late April, the former Secretary General has already reasons to be satisfied. His relation with the Softball Federation is ideal and the 2 governing bodies are discussing common projects. Kenya intends to introduce Baseball5 in schools

Titus Mutwiri, the newly elected President of the Baseball Federation of Kenya, visited WBSC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Mutwiri, who previously served as the Federation’s Secretary General, met with WBSC Executive Director Michael Schmidt. The discussion was about devolepment in Kenya.

President Mutwiri informed Schmidt about his ideal relation with the Softball Federation. The Baseball and Softball Federations of Kenya intend to submit a common project to develop the National coaching structure. One of the goals would be educating school teachers to baseball and softball.

Mutwiri also confirmed his project to introduce Baseball5 at the school level. The new urban version of baseball and softball appears a convenient tool to attract the younger generations.

During the meeting, WBSC and the Baseball Federation of Kenya also discussed the possibility of having more competitions at the international level in Africa.

Schmidt congratulated President Mutwiri for the good work done by the Baseball Federation of Kenya and confirmed that WBSC leadership views Africa as instrumental to further development of the games of baseball and softball.
