Mexico blanks Czechia 3-0 to finish in third place in Group B

Four Mexican pitchers combined for the shutout. Jorge Guzman tossed 3.1 innings giving up three hits, while the winner was Roberto Salas, in 1.2 innings of work.

Yustin Canizales scored twice and stole three bags in Mexico’s first win of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup, a 3-0 win against Czechia. Mexico finishes group play with a 1-2 record, while Czechia ends 0-3, as both teams have been knocked out of the main tournament and will head to the 7th-13th Place, Placement Round.

Mexico’s first run was scored by Canizales in the first inning. He hit a leadoff single, stole second and third bases, and took advantage of a costly mistake by Czech second baseman Vit Stanek to score.

Two innings later, Brayan Valenzuela hit a two-RBI single that would be the last runs of the game.

Czechia had chances to score in the fourth and sixth innings, when they put two runners in scoring position, but the Europeans failed to cash in the run-scoring opportunities.
