Men's Softball: Mexico claim Open & Masters gold at Buenos Aires 2023 Pan American Maccabi Games

Following men's softball's inclusion at The World Games Chengdu 2025 official sports programme, the fast-growing discipline keeps expanding its sizeable global footprint with participation in the Buenos Aires 2023 Pan American Maccabi Games.

From 27 December to 5 January, men's softball featured at the Buenos Aires 2023 Pan American Maccabi Games, staged at the recently inaugurated Buenos Aires Softball Arena in Argentina's capital city.

The event included two age brackets, with an Open competition and a Masters (+35) tournament. Mexico claimed the gold medal in both events. In the Open competition, they defeated USA in the final, 6-4; while in the Masters, the Mexicans topped hosts Argentina, 7-6, in nine innings. Argentina (Open) and USA (Masters) clinched the bronze medal.

The previous edition of the Pan American Maccabi Games was hosted in Mexico City in 2019.

Women's and men's softball are also featured at the Maccabiah Games, a quadrennial global multi sport competition hosted in Israel. In 2022, Canada, Cuba, France, Israel, Mexico and USA played the Men's Open event; while Canada, Israel, Mexico and USA played the Men's Open event.

The next edition of the global Maccabiah Games, the world’s largest Jewish athletic competition, is scheduled for the summer of 2025.
