MLB announces European Development Tournament and Cadet Camps

The European Development Tournament, 19-25 June in London, will involve the top 90 prospects aged 16-20. Cadet Camps will include players in the 13-15 age bracket in England, Spain, France, Czechia, Germany and Italy.

Major League Baseball (MLB) has a crowded 2023 schedule of development events in Europe.

The European Development Tournament (EDT), scheduled from 19 to 25 June in London, England, is the season's highlight. It will involve 90 top prospects in the 16-20 age range. The players will split into three teams and compete from 20 to 23 June in four games at the Farnham Baseball Park.

On 24 June, the 90 prospects and their coaches will be guests at the first game of the MLB London Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs at the London Stadium in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stradford.

MLB Europe is working on the list of prospects together with the National Federations. The list includes players from Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Germany, Czechia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Austria. The final 90 players will be revealed at a later stage.

MLB also launched the Cadet Camps, a development initiative which targets the 13-15 age brackets. The Farnham Baseball Park will host the first Camp from 12 to 15 April.

Two more Cadet Camps are scheduled in April in Spain (18-21 in Barcelona) and France (24-27 in Toulouse).

Brno will host a Cadet Camp from 23 to 26 May in Czechia, while Paderborn will take the event to Germany from 29 May to 1 June.

Three more Cadet Camps are scheduled for July. The first (6-9) will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania. Italy will host its Cadet Camp from 10 to 13 July in Ronchi dei Legionari. Sofia, Bulgaria, will host the third from 14 to 17 July.

European players will participate in the Arizona Fall Trip, a College showcase Tour, starting at the end of September and ending in early October. The group will comprise the top 30 international players in the Academies MLB is collaborating within Europe, China and Australia. The coaching staff will consist of former MLB players and coaches and will be confirmed later.
