MLB FIRST PITCH gets to schools, communities in China

After reaching 146 schools in 11 cities, MLB is currently hosting 30 FIRST PITCH Community Center events in Beijing.

Major League Baseball (MLB) launched the MLB First Pitch program in September 2020, aiming to introduce the sport to kids in China with no baseball background.

So far, MLB FIRST PITCH has benefited 146 schools in 11 cities across the country.

In May 2022 alone, the program launched in more than 40 schools in Guangdong Province, covering over 30,000 students.

MLB's goal is to cover 1,200 schools and one million students in China over the next five years.

MLB FIRST PITCH recently expanded its demographics to the communities in China through the MLB FIRST PITCH Community Center starting in Beijing.

In August 2022, 30 MLB FIRST PITCH Community Center events will welcome Beijing participants of all ages with zero baseball experience, featuring different demographics and including underprivileged communities.

On Thursday, 18 August, over 20 media outlets participated in the MLB FIRST PITCH Community Center Media Day .
