New European Women's Softball Championship presented in Catalonia, Spain

Barcelona, Sant Boi, Viladecans and Gavà will host the 22-team competition from 24-30 July.

The European Women’s Softball Championship was presented on Thursday, 24 February, at the Museum and Center for Sports Studies Dr. Melcior Colet in Barcelona, Spain. 

Barcelona, Sant Boi, Viladecans and Gavà (all of them located in the Baix Llobregat) will host its first continental championship, which will also serve as the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup European qualifier. A total of 22 teams will compete from 24-30 July.

During the ceremony, the local organising committee unveiled a promotional video showcasing the four hosting diamonds.

The event was chaired by the Secretary General of Sport and Physical Activity from Catalonia, Anna Caula, and was accompanied by Jesús Lisarri, President of the Spanish Baseball and Softball Federation, Jordi Vallès, President of the Catalan Baseball and Softball Federation, and María Antonia Barragán, Councilor for Sports and the Elderly of Sant Boi de Llobregat City Council.

A total of 22 teams will compete in four groups for the continental title. WBSC Europe recently announced the new official competition format of the European Women's Softball Championship.
