Press Release Sydney Blue Sox, Australian Baseball League

The Sydney Blue Sox and the Australian Baseball League announced that the Blue Sox will play host to Team New Zealand on November 4th and 5th at Blacktown International Sportspark.

Team New Zealand begins preparations for the 2013 World Baseball Classic qualifying rounds by playing the Blue Sox in Sydney and then the Canberra Cavalry the following week in Canberra. The game on Sunday the 4th will begin at 4:00 p.m. while the game on Monday the 5th will begin at 7:30 p.m. Fans who purchase a season membership will receive a free ticket to both games along with their official Member’s Pack.

“We’re honoured to host Team New Zealand at Blue Sox Stadium,” Blue Sox General Manager David Balfour said. “This is a great chance for Team New Zealand to prepare and it’s a great opportunity for our guys to see more game action at the beginning of the season.”

The Blue Sox will be without their first baseman and designated hitter Boss Moanaroa, who will compete for Team New Zealand during their qualifying. Sydney’s roster will be comprised of players from their 35-man roster submitted to the ABL.

The series comes on the heels of the Blue Sox three-game Australia Series the week before against Team Australia. In addition, Sydney officially opens their ABL season on November 2nd and 3rd with a three game series in Canberra.
