No. 41 Israel shocks again with 15-7 win over No. 4 Chinese Taipei

For the second straight day No. 41 Israel topped a top-ranked nation in the World Baseball Classic, defeating No. 4 Chinese Taipei, 15-7, in Group A action at the Gocheok Sky Dome.

SEOUL — For the second straight day No. 41 Israel topped a top-ranked nation in the World Baseball Classic, defeating No. 4 Chinese Taipei, 15-7, in Group A action at the Gocheok Sky Dome.

The win puts Israel (2-0) in a strong position to be one of the eight nations that advances to the next round.

Israel KO’d Chinese Taipei starting pitcher Chun-Lin Kuo, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning.

Israel pounded 20 total hits and led by as much as 12 runs, following home runs by Nate Frieman and Ryan Lavarnway.

Starting pitcher Corey Baker earned the win.
