Oklahoma sweeps Texas in front of 12K to win back-to-back NCAA Softball titles

Five members of the 2022 USA Softball Women’s National Team competed in the NCAA Women’s College World Series (WCWS) Championship Series as Oklahoma’s Jocelyn Alo, Jayda Coleman, Kinzie Hansen and Tiare Jennings took on Janae Jefferson and the Texas Longhorns.

Oklahoma University won its second consecutive NCAA Softball title, and sixth overall, after a 10-5 victory over Texas on Thursday to sweep the three-game championship series. The NCAA Women’s College World Series finale 12,234 spectators at the Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, USA Softball's headquarters.

Oklahoma’s title wrap up a historic season for the Sooners who finished with an overall 59-3 (.952) record. 

Alo, who closed her college career with 122 home runs and became the new all-time leader, was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. She is the first player in NCAA history to finish the season with 30 homers and bat .500 in the same season, finishing with a .512 average.

Hanzen and Jefferson are part of USA’s roster slated to participate in The World Games, from 9-13 July, where the winner will be declared WBSC World Champion. Alo, Coleman, Hanzen, Jefferson and Jennings will play the Japan All-Star Series in August.
