Puerto Rico announce 20-player roster for XXXI WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup

Manager Eddie Gonzalez said: "We have looked for players who can cover different positions."

World No. 11 Puerto Rico announced a 20-player roster for the XXXI WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, hosted by the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) from 31 August to 10 September in Taipei City and Taichung.

"We have looked for players who can cover different positions," said manager Eddie Gonzalez. "The U-18 Baseball World Cup has an opening round of five games with no rest day."

The National Baseball Federation (FBPR) organized tryouts in various parts of the island to identify a pre-selection.

Gonzalez, a 13-year veteran in the Puerto Rican Double-A League, commented: "Players are 17 or 18, so you need to consider many variables when you schedule try outs, including the permits by their schools."

The pre-selection trained for two months with a two-practice per week schedule. Below you find the final roster:

PITCHERS (9) Carlos Jazmín, Carlos Roses, Byron Madero, Jarrette Bonet, Ibrahim González, Alexis Martínez, Dicky González, José Bulted, Ángel Cruz.

INFIELDERS (6) Harold Laracuente, Hiram Bocachica, Adonys Vélez, Henry Clausell, Diego García, Adrián Padró.
