Krystof Roll rallies Czech Republic past Singapore

Czech Republic recorded their second victory in the II WBSC U-12 Softball World Cup. Krystoff Roll had one run, two hits and two RBIs, while teammates Daniel Mach and Sebastian Mckeon logged two runs each.

Krystof Roll helped Czech Republic with key hits in Czech Republic’s 8-1 win against Singapore at the II WBSC U-12 Softball World Cup in Jin-Long Stadium.

In the first of two games for the Czech Republic on Thursday, Roll claimed one run, two hits and two RBIs to lead the Czech offence, while pitcher Lukas Divacky pitched nine strikeouts and allowed only one run.

Daniel Mach and Katerina Slanska started the offence rolling for the Czech Republic, as Slanska’s single enabled Mach to move to second base after a walk and later on giving the European side the first run off a wild pitch. Slanska later earned the run off a throwing error.

Czech Republic had a more productive second inning that involved five different players each scoring a run, led by Mach who scored his second run after Sebastian Mckeon, Teresa Valtusova and Johana Slavikova reached home. Krystof Roll, whose tripled triple to left field scored Slavikova, closed the scoring at the top of the second inning with a run off Sestakova’s single to lead 7-0.

Singapore's defence improved in the third and fourth frames, pausing any further scoring from the Czech Republic before Mckeon's triple to right field in the top of the fifth saw him get home on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 8-0. Lukas Goh's good base running gave Singapore their first run of the game to make it 8-1 before Divacky retired the remaining Singaporean batters.
