Argentina earns a chance to compete for a medal and will now face the loser of Canada-Australia

India and Guatemala advanced today in the Placement Round with triumphs against Hong Kong and South Africa respectively. They both will meet tomorrow to decide which team advances to the last game of the round for the ninth place in the final standings.

New Zealand beat Mexico, 8-0, in five innings and advanced to the next game in the Playoff Round of the WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship. The Junior Black Sox already secured a spot in the top four of the tournament

In order of standings, Japan, Australia, Argentina and Mexico advanced to the Championship Round out of Group A, while Canada, New Zealand, Czech Republic and USA advanced through Group B.

India was considered the underdog of the tournament, but won two games in the round robin, mostly because of some heroics by their one and only starter, who delivered 585 pitches over six games and also hit a key home run

Japan finished unbeaten at top of the Group A, followed by Australia (5-1), Argentina (4-2) and Mexico (3-3).

It was not a game played too well, but for sure was exciting. The Europeans sticked to a one run lead despite USA hitting for extra bases to open the bottom of the seventh. Canada and New Zealand the top seeded teams
