Spanish outfielder Uxua Modrego makes history with 4-HR game for Texas A&M University-Commerce

The Texas A&M University-Commerce center fielder, who represented Spain at the WBSC Softball Europe Africa Qualifier in 2019, went 4-for-4 with four home runs and nine RBI in her team's win over Adams State. It’s the first time in the Lone Star Conference history that a player hit four dingers in a game.

Spain national team center fielder Uxua Modrego made history this past weekend by hitting four home runs in a single game, guiding Texas A&M University-Commerce to a comfortable 23-5 win over Adams State in a NCAA Division II match. The outfielder from Burlada, Spain, tallied 9 RBI in the game.

According to her team’s website, it’s the first time a player has hit four dingers in a game in Lone Star Conference history. In addition, Modrego's four home runs are most by any player in all three divisions of NCAA softball this season and just the eighth occurrence in Division II history.

In the bottom of the first, Modrego sent the first pitch she saw over the left field fence, for a two-run homer.

Modrego, who hit in the seventh spot of the lineup, added a no-doubter in the second frame, a solo shot to make it 11-4.

In the third inning, Spain’s national team member completed her historic afternoon with a pair of three-run blasts, a line-drive and a towering bomb over to left-center field fence.

In only one game the Burlada-native tied her 2021 season performance. Last year she hit four home runs in the entire season. After 15 games, she’s hitting .400 in her sophomore season.

Modrego was Spain’s starting center fielder and clean-up hitter during the WBSC Europe Africa Olympic Qualifier in 2019. She hit .333 with two runs and two RBI in three games.
