Talent-filled roster highlights Australia’s return to WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup

Australia will play in a tough Group A with Japan, Mexico, Chinese Taipei, Venezuela and Germany.

Eighteen talented young players are set to make their international debut at the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup from July 28 to August 6 in Tainan, Taiwan.

Australia were granted a wild card by the WBSC for the tournament and will be returning to international competition in the U-12 age group competition for the first time since 2019.

This also marks their fourth participation in the tournament, which has been held in Tainan since 2015 having previous been staged in Taipei City and Taipei since its inception in 2011.

The players were selected across Australia during its summer season and will play under the guidance of Phil Hemmer, a long serving coach within Baseball New South Wales' under-age programmes. Hemmer will be supported by his staff which includes Dan Wilson, Atlanta 1996 Baseball Olympian Stuart Howell and Executive Officer Val Langworthy.

World No. 9 Australia are in Group A with No. 1 Japan, No. 3 Mexico, No. 4 Chinese Taipei, No. 6 Venezuela and No. 19 Germany.

Their first game will be against hosts Chinese Taipei on July 28 at 18:30 local time, Germany on July 29 at 14:30, Venezuela on July 30 at 11:00, Mexico on July 31 at 11:00 and Japan on August 1 at 11:00.
