Ten eBASEBALL™ players aim for glory at Olympic Esports Week in Singapore

The inaugural Olympic Esports Series 2023 takes place in Singapore with 10 eBASEBALL™ players aiming for glory after beating nearly 30,000 players to qualify for the event.

After attending the opening ceremony of the first Olympic Esports Week on Thursday, 10 players will compete to be crowned the very first Olympic Esports Series 2023 WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS winner over the next two days at the Suntec Centre in Singapore.

WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS is the official video game of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), released from Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (KONAMI) earlier this year and was selected as one of 10 events in the Olympic Esports Series 2023.

The finalists include one wild card spot, determined though a physical event held in Singapore last week, in collaboration with the Local Organizing Committee. Five players from Japan, three from Chinese Taipei and one from the United States have beaten competition from nearly 30,000 players to qualify for the finals, with the action getting underway on Friday (23 June).

The five global qualifiers and the five Japanese qualifiers will be placed into two separate groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the finals on Saturday (24 June). The group stage will be held at the WBSC booth at the free-to-play zone located next to the main stages with the final event scheduled for start at 11.45am (local time) on Stage 1 in the Suntec Centre.

A total of 130 finalists from 10 different virtual sport events will compete in Singapore and the 10 eBASEBALL™ stars were excited to take part.

Jacob Park – “KangGang” from USA said the “Opening Ceremony was really cool and especially at the end when we, the players went up on the stage. Looking forward to playing definitely on the international level, which has been dream of mine.”

Chinese Taipei player Chia-Ming Wang – “CMWANG” said: “The opening ceremony was huge, exciting and fantastic, hope all the players can perform well.”

Hiroki Horiike – “TAIJYU” is one of five players from Japan and he said: “The images and dances were very powerful, and I realized that many people were involved in this event. I would like to do my best to contribute to the success of this inaugural Olympic Esports Week as much as possible.”
