Top ranked women’s softball nations USA, Japan set to face off in Japan All-Star Series

The three-game series will take place from 4 to 7 August, held at three major venues that contributed to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

After their participation in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage, where both national teams earned their tickets to the Finals 2024, world No. 1 USA and No. 2 Japan will go head to head in an exciting three game series from 4 to 7 August.

The Japan All-Star Series will open on Friday, August 4 at 7 p.m. Japan time in Iwakuni, Japan followed by a second matchup on Sunday, August 6 at 2 p.m. in Fukushima, Japan. The top two ranked teams in the world will cap the three-game series in Yokohama on Monday, August 7 at 7 p.m.

USA will present a roster loaded with college athletes, including the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup 2021 MVP Valerie Cagle. See USA’s roster here.

On the other side, Japan named a 22-player roster, including seven Olympic gold medallists: Yukiko Ueno, Miu Goto, Yamato Fujita, Haruka Agatsuma, Hitomi Kawabata, Minori Naito and Nodoka Harada. See Japan's roster here.

This past July, USA earned their ticket to the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2024 after winning undefeated Group A, played in Balbriggan, Ireland. Japan participated in Group C and advanced to the finals after a 7-1 win against No. 5 Canada.

Both teams, along with No. 3 Puerto Rico, Canada, No. 7 Australia, No. 8 Italy, No. 9 Netherlands and No. 11 China will compete for the title of world champions in the Finals 2024, scheduled for 15 to 21 July in Castions di Strada and Buttrio, Italy.
