U-12 Baseball World Cup Day 2: Venezuela beats Chinese Taipei in extras, first win for Italy, USA outslugs Japan, Mexico walks it off, Korea tops Czechia

Day 2 of the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup saw the defending champs as well as the top-ranked team both defeated.

Five games are Scheduled on Day 2 of the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.

Mexico-Panama 2-1 BOX SCORE
USA-Japan 21-6 BOX SCORE
Italy- South Africa 15-0 (4 innings) BOX SCORE
Venezuela-Chinese Taipei 10-8 (7 innings) BOX SCORE

THE STANDINGS

Venezuela- Chinese Taipei

Venezuela defeated Chinese Taipei, 10-8, in 7 innings in front of over 2,100 fans. Chinese Taipei earned an early lead, but Venezuela tied the game in the fourth on a home run by left fielder David Vabalas.

In the top of the fifth a three-run homer by catcher Salomon Millan gives Venezuela a 5-2 lead.

Chinese Taipei came back in the bottom of the sixth and took the game to extra innings. Venezuela scored five in the top of the seventh and held onto the lead. READ MORE

Italy-South Africa

Italy scored three runs in the second and never needed to look back. The Italians defeated South Africa, 15-0, in 4 innings. READ MORE

USA-Japan

The United States got an early 3-0 lead against Japan, capitalizing on an error with a two-RBI single by Anthony Frausto.

Japan cut the lead to one run on a two-run towering home run by Shunei Kashiwagi.

Japan managed staying in the game until the bottom of the sixth. The US slugged their way to a 14-run sixth inning, highlighted by back to back home runs by Anthony Ramon (grand slam) and Anthony Frausto. READ MORE

Panama-Mexico

The game between Panama and Mexico is the first of the VI U-12 Baseball World Cup at Field 2 of the Asia Pacific International Baseball Stadium. Ezequiel Rivera homered in the second to give Mexico an early lead.

After Panama scored the tying run in the top of the fifth, Mexico walked it off on a base hit by Jonathan Beltran.

Korea-Czechia

Korea beat Czechia using two big innings. They scored eight runs in the second and six in the third, after a rain delay. The Czechs stranded a bases-loaded situation with no score in the top of the second. READ MORE
