USA use five home runs to defeat Czechia, advance to Super Round

The defending U-12 world champions went at bat 19 times in the first inning and 15 in the third. Three pitchers allowed only one runner on a walk to the Czechs.

World No. 2 United States showcased their power with 21 hits, including five home runs, on their way to a 25-0 win in four innings against Czechia at the VII WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.

First baseman Leyland Henry put the United States on the board with an RBI double. One run scored on a groundout and a base hit by shortstop Paris Head made it 3-0. Left fielder Gavin Gomez went deep and made it 5-0.

Centre fielder Parker Nicholis (three runs) and right fielder Tyler Early homered back-to-back.

Gomez came up for the second time with the bases loaded and delivered a grand slam.

Pinch hitter Raylen Hunter stepped to the box as the 19th hitter of the first at-bat. He became the third out. The United States scored 14 runs against three Czech pitchers.

The US added two runs in the bottom of the second. Henry hit the fifth home run for the defending world champion lineup.

Six hits and a couple of errors produced eight runs in the bottom of the third. USA went at bat 15 times.

Bowen Landry, Julian Knudsen and Kingston George combined a no-hitter, allowing only one runner on a fourth-inning walk.

The United States finished with a 4-1 record, tied in Group B's first place with Korea and the Dominican Republic. All three teams will advance to the Super Round.
