Venezuelan Baseball Federation holds umpire, technical commissioner courses

"We have a lot to do to build the Federation that we want to see, and this is part of the process," said FEVEBEISBOL President Areacelis León.

Within the Ordinary General Assembly framework and the final phase of the U-11 National Championship, the Venezuelan Baseball Federation (FEVEBEISBOL) brought together a large group of umpires and technical commissioners for professionalization, updating and improvement courses.

Oscar Izaguirre, FEVEBEISBOL secretary-general and a WBSC international scorer, and Miguel Hernandez, the director-general of the Venezuelan Umpire Camp, coordinated the educational programs.

Instructors Carlos Leal, Jorge Terán, Edward Pacheco and Hernández himself worked with 45 umpires.

"The best 25 of the evaluation test will be classified as A and will serve as international umpires," confirmed Izaguirre.

Veteran international umpire Maite Bullones added: "Every day we learn something new, and baseball always brings different things, new rules, and we must update ourselves. I like to come here and keep learning despite years of experience."

"We have a lot to do to build the Federation that we want to see, and this is part of the process," said FEVEBEISBOL President Areacelis León to introduce the course. "We need to keep educating, working hard and investing in good things and excellence."

Venezuela is currently No. 6 in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings and No. 5 in the Women's Baseball World Rankings.
