WBSC Baseball5 World Cup: Central Harbourfront Event Space in Hong Kong to host second edition in 2024

The 36,000-square-metre area offers a fantastic view of the iconic Hong Kong skyline and will host two Baseball5 fields using SES Battle III, an environment-friendly rubber floor.

The Baseball Association of Hong Kong, China has earned the hosting rights of the second WBSC Baseball5 World Cup in 2024, staging the event at the Central Harbourfront Event Space in Central Hong Kong.

With an amazing 360-degree view of the iconic Hong Kong skyline, Central Harbourfront Event Space offers almost 36,000 square metres (387,500 square feet) of outdoor, open-air space with easy accessibility to public transportation.

The organisers will set up two Baseball5 fields using SES Battle III, a new type of rubber material elastic floor positioned as a high-end sports floor for outdoor sports courts, which is environment-friendly, elastic and flexible, and has excellent shock absorption and sports performance.

As hosts, Hong Kong will be granted an automatic spot in the 12-team tournament.

Hong Kong, China ranked 20th in the WBSC Baseball5 World Rankings, finished 12th at the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup, played in inspirational El Zocalo, the world-famous square in Mexico City last year. They earned their only win against No. 3 France in the placement round.

The Baseball Association of Hong Kong, China has hosted international baseball events since 2008, the year of the inaugural men's Hong Kong International Baseball Open and the women's Phoenix Cup.

The Association hosted the inaugural Women's Baseball Asian Cup in 2017 and the East Asia Baseball Cup in 2018.

Hong Kong will host the Asia Qualifier for the IX WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup in May.
