WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series 2023 World Finals - As it happened

The WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series World Finals in Lausanne, Switzerland saw the best four WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS players in the world face off for the title of World Champion.

The first-ever WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series 2023 World Finals took place at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland on 9 March, Saturday. Great atmosphere at the Olympic Museum saw Olympic eSport Series champion Shora crowned as first ever WBSC eBaseball Series world champion.

Group play took place in the morning with the Finals now taking place. The third-place game was won by Hazuremon before SHORA claimed the honours in the championship game. Full replay available on the WBSC’s official YouTubeTwitch channels and the WBSC OTT Platform GameTime.

Finals

SHORA v fujito now under way with the final taking place over five innings rather than three innings used in the group play and third place game.

SHORA won this contest 7-0 in the last game of group play this morning and proved too good again, claiming the final 8-1.

The playoff for third-place sees Hazuremon take on yabeGaming with the American having beaten Hazuremon 5-0 in the penultimate game of the group stage.

Roles were reversed this time with Hazuremon claiming an impressive 2-1 win over yabeGaming to clinch the third place.

Group Play

Fujito beat Hazuremon 2-0 in the first game followed by a superb walk off 3-1 win by Olympic Esports Series winner SHORA against yabeGaming.

The second round of games saw fujito win his second game from as many contests with a 5-0 win over yabeGaming to book a spot in the final. SHORA continued to time his run perfectly with another come-from-behind-win beating Hazuremon 6-4 to confirm his place in the final.

The last two games of group stage see the two winless players yabeGaming and Hazuremon play before the two unbeaten stars SHORA and fujito play.

YabeGaming continued his great form, despite having two defeats to his name, with an impressive 5-0 won over Hazuremon in their last group game to confirm his spot as the home team in this afternoon's third-place game.

In the last group game and a preview of the championship game, No. 1 seed SHORA hit his stride against fujito, going ahead 6-0 in the top of the first inning before scoring again in the second to lead 7-0 before going on to win by the run ahead rule. With the win, Olympic Esports Series baseball champion SHORA tops the standings and will be the home team for the final.

The Finalists

Shoma Mori "SHORA" (JPN) - Undefeated eBASEBALL™ player. The Olympic Esports Series 2023 and Olympic Virtual Series 2021 baseball champion has also qualified after emerging victorious in the first online qualifier of the WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series.

Takato Fujishima "fujito" (JPN) - Finished joint fifth at the Olympic Esports Series 2023 and won the second online qualifier of the WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series.

RJ Calderon "yabeGaming" (USA) - Claimed victory at the USA eBASEBALL™ Finals at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in North Carolina.

Wei-Chung Yu “Hazuremon” (TPE) – Enters the World Finals as the final qualifier for the tournament. He was the top non-Japanese finisher in the Final Global Qualifier tournament held from 28 January to 4 February.
