WBSC instructor Chedli Mokrani receives IOC honours for Baseball5 achievements

Mokrani is a WBSC Baseball5 Continental instructor for Africa, a certified WBSC Baseball5 Game official and recently trained the Baseball5 Refugee Team in Jordan.

Tunisia Baseball5 coach Chedli Mokrani graduated from the International Coaching Enrichment Certification Programme (ICECP) class of 2022 with a special ceremony at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) headquarters in Lausanne.

Mokrani was one of 31 coaches from five continents, 27 countries and 17 sports who completed an intensive four-module coaching education programme, which focused on improving coaching infrastructure in their home countries.

The ICECP is among the world's most recognized and respected coaching education programmes. It is offered in partnership between the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), Olympic Solidarity and the University of Delaware. The courses are taught by Team USA's Sport Performance and the University of Delaware experts and other leading international sports professionals in their respective fields.

The 47-year-old is a WBSC Baseball5 Continental instructor for Africa and a certified WBSC Baseball5 Game official. He staged Baseball5 courses in Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Senegal) and Arabic countries (Tunisia, Palestine, Iraq, Syria and Algeria). Last month he delivered a week-long training course, supporting the Baseball5 Refugee Team in Jordan.

The training at the Azraq Refugee Camp was also extended to kids coming from another Jordan town called Balilla, since one of the targets of the WBSC Refugee Project is to create integration and cohesion between the refugees and the local communities.

Mokrani was also instrumental in developing Baseball5 within the Baseball and Softball Federation of Tunisia where he still coaches at club level and supported the selection and training camp for the Tunisian National team at the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup last year.

He has served as Tournament Director for the 2022 Baseball5 African Championship and as an international official at the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2022. Additionally, he has also supported the translation of the Arabic version of the Baseball5 Rulebook and Baseball5 Toolkit.
